Frontend Software Engineer

Position Overview

As a Frontend Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in building the user-facing web client of our non-linear video editing (NLE) application. You'll have the opportunity to shape the product's user interface, features, and deliver an exceptional experience the next generation of filmmakers. If you're passionate about filmmaking, modern frontend technologies, and want to be part of a ground-breaking venture, we want you on our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • User Interface Component Development: Responsible for the primary development of the user interface components using TypeScript, JavaScript, Svelte, CSS, WebGL, and more, ensuring an intuitive and responsive user interface. Your attention to detail shows when you match the mockups pixel for pixel.

  • Optimize Performance and User Experience: Enhance user experience and accessibility, making the video editing process smooth and enjoyable. You'll ensure that the web client runs at a smooth 60fps, combining techniques from understanding the browser paint cycle across the DOM, WebGL shaders, CSS, and JS, while making sure every interaction has delight and intention behind it.

  • Shipping features: Work closely with backend engineers to integrate frontend components with our GraphQL API and other backend RPC services.

  • Testing: Ensure code quality through testing libraries and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Strong proficiency in HTML and CSS. You understand how the browser works at a fundamental level.

  • Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript and/or TypeScript.

  • Expertise with various modern frontend frameworks(e.g. Svelte/React/Vue), and modern bundling technologies.

  • Proficient with frontend performance and best practices

  • Experience with frontend testing libraries

  • Passion for delivering exceptional user experiences.

  • Commitment to accessibility standards.

Preferred:

  • Experience with web video technologies such as DASH, HLS, WebRTC, WebCodecs API.

  • Experience with Svelte, WebGL

  • Experience with GraphQL

  • Experience with Rust & WASM.
