Position Overview
As a Backend Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in architecting and building the APIs, services, and automation pipelines powering our next generation video editing tools.
We are looking for engineers passionate about distributed systems, testing, and automation to join our early but growing team. You will have significant ownership and ability to influence architecture, tooling, and process as we scale. If you're passionate about filmmaking, modern backend technologies, and want to be part of a ground-breaking venture, we want you on our team!
Key Responsibilities:
Design, build and optimize core backend services and APIs powering the Sequence platform
Implement real-time data pipelines, event streaming, and asynchronous task workflows
Leverage Kubernetes, Docker, TypeScript, GraphQL, and other technologies
Instrument comprehensive test automation, monitoring, and observability
Promote and enable continuous delivery through CI/CD pipelines
Qualifications:
5+ years experience designing and operating production distributed systems
Expert with TypeScript, Node.js, GraphQL, Kubernetes
Knowledge of message queues, event streaming, and microservice patterns
Excellent troubleshooting and optimization skills
Comprehensive testing, monitoring and automation experience
You consider yourself having superpowers in the Matrix, ie: the Neo of Backend Engineering
Preferred:
Experience with GStreamer, FFMPEG, Media APIs
Familiarity with SQL, CQL, Apollo GraphQL, Prisma ORM, Argo Workflows/Events
Experience with Rust
Experience with IAC tools like Pulumi or Amazon CDK.
Startup experience taking ownership and working collaboratively
